Description: The 47 Ronin gather for their night attack on Moronao (Kira Kozuke-no-suke). They start to go over the wall using rope ladders on either side of the main gate.

I assume this early ronin triptych is quite rare, this is the only example I have seen of this print on the market in 26 years.

Artist: Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797 – 1861)

Signature: Signed on all three sheets Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga (一勇斎 國芳 画)

Date: 1827-1830

Condition: Very good impression, good colours, earlier prints had the more muted pallet, some small wormholes and areas of light soiling
